Rhian Kelly has joined SSE this week as Chief Sustainability Officer. Her appointment comes at an important moment as SSE continues to play a pivotal role in the clean energy transition.
Rhian brings a wealth of experience to the senior leadership team from a comparable role within National Grid and she is expected to build on the FTSE 100-leading platform created by her predecessor, Rachel McEwen, who leaves SSE after 18 years.
Rhian said:
“The clean energy transition presents a huge opportunity, and I’m committed to ensuring that its benefits - environmental and social - are felt widely as we continue to grow the business sustainably.”
SSE Chief Executive, Martin Pibworth, said:
“SSE has never been better placed to meet the challenges of a warming world. We are delivering on a climate-focused strategy and now, with fresh perspectives and new leadership from Rhian, we are well set to tackle the sustainability challenges of the mid-2020s and beyond.”
