Commenting on the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)'s unconditional clearance of SSE's sale of its remaining stake in SGN, which means all necessary clearances have now been received, Gregor Alexander, Finance Director at SSE plc, said:

“We welcome today’s decision by the CMA to clear unconditionally the proposed sale of SSE’s stake in SGN. Although it is an excellent business that has played an important role within the SSE group for many years, this disposal is an important step in the strategic refocusing of the company on electricity assets and infrastructure.

“The disposal proceeds will support our fully funded £12.5bn Net Zero Acceleration Programme, which will drive growth and value creation to 2026 and beyond.“
