Statement on UK Government’s Energy White Paper

14 Dec 2020

Alistair Phillips-Davies, SSE Chief Executive, said:  “Cost efficient renewables coupled with cutting edge carbon capture and storage technology and a robust and stable carbon price is the pathway to net zero and we welcome the Government’s focus on all three.

“It is vital the Government also ensures any new nuclear investment drives down costs and delivers value for money for billpayers and taxpayers to support a fair and just transition.

“Leadership at a global level on COP26 can only be backed by tangible action to decarbonise and as a UK headquartered business SSE is proud to be investing in the infrastructure to support the move to a low carbon economy.

“SSE will review the detail of the Energy White Paper in the coming days and looks forward to working with the Government and other stakeholders to play its part in delivering a net zero economy”.
