SSE Enterprise in the driving seat for World EV Day

“We’re thrilled to be in the driving seat for World EV Day,” Kevin Welstead, SSE Enterprise Sector Director for EV

We know that being a major player in efforts to build a world class electric vehicle [EV] network for the UK is important to SSE Group.

In SSE’s recently published Greenprint we unveiled proposals to spearhead a green renewal that included ensuring we have the most the most extensive and efficient EV charging infrastructure in the world by 2025, ending the sale of petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2030 and working towards full decarbonisation of corporate fleets by 2030.

So I’m thrilled to be able to announce that SSE Enterprise will be Founding Partners of an event called World EV Day on September 9th which will put the spotlight firmly on the need for innovative EV solutions – of which we specialise.

Widespread deployment for Electric Vehicle infrastructure is a key part of the national conversation as we hit the road to net zero and the inaugural World EV Day, being launched by ABB and Green.TV, will be a day of global e-mobility appreciation.

Current and prospective drivers of electric vehicles, alongside local transport authorities and fleet operators, will be encouraged to recognise the crucial role which they play in driving the shift to sustainable road transport and a zero-emission future for all.

The day will become an annual institution and will also recognise the vital role which reliable and fast charging infrastructure, grid reinforcement and the integration of renewable power generation must play in enabling a truly sustainable transport ecosystem.

We’ve also led the charge on helping turn London’s iconic red buses green by helping install the first and largest fully electric bus depot in London and we’re also pioneering next generation technology that will allow buses to become two way chargers.
