SSE Airtricity to reduce gas prices in Northern Ireland from 1 April

SSE Airtricity, Northern Ireland’s largest provider of natural gas, has confirmed today it will reduce its regulated natural gas prices by 18.7%, saving a typical household customer £107.73* annually, equivalent to £2.07 per week*.

The 18.7% reduction announced today comes into effect from 1 April 2020 and will apply to all domestic and small business customers supplied by the utility.

SSE Airtricity is the regulated supplier of natural gas to over 168,000^ SSE Airtricity home and small business customers in Northern Ireland. The company is revising its prices downwards to reflect the soft demand and robust supply currently seen in global gas markets.

Today’s announcement follows the half-yearly review by the company of the supply and operating costs of its regulated natural gas business which is conducted at this time every year in consultation with the Northern Ireland Utility Regulator. The company also consulted with the Department for the Economy (DofE) and the Consumer Council of Northern Ireland (CCNI) as part of the review.

*Based on a customer on a standard 24hr credit meter tariff (Home Energy Standard) with typical medium level consumption of 12,000 kWh. Figures are inclusive of VAT. Actual costs vary according to meter type, individual tariff and consumption.
