Responding to the reports in the media today, an SSE spokesperson said:
“SSE is committed to operating openly and transparently. Our independently audited financial accounts show that between 2011 and 2016 SSE’s profit margin (before tax) from supplying gas and electricity to households in Great Britain has been under 6% on average. Therefore profitability estimates like those suggested are incorrect and highly misleading.”
