SSE Business Energy this week played a key role in 2016’s Energy Live Conference, which took place yesterday (3 November) at The Barbican centre in London. It was an opportunity for businesses to learn more about the wider energy industry, and how it is set to evolve in the future.
SSE Business Energy was able to offer businesses the opportunity to discuss their energy needs with experts and throughout the day we discussed everything from energy policy to sustainability.
SSE’s Chief Executive, Alistair Phillips-Davies, also attended and took part in a number of lively debates. He joined by other senior energy leaders including Cordi O’Hara of National Grid, Gab Barbaro, British Gas Business, UK Power Networks’ Basil Scarsella and Nick Boyle, CEO of Lightsource Renewable Energy to debate the changes that may affect the industry.
Discussions at the conference covered a wide range of topics with some of the common themes focussing on the outlook for prices and demand; the increasing importance of new sources of flexibility to support the grid; and the growing opportunities for businesses to take greater control of their energy use.
Finlay McCutcheon, Director of SSE Business Energy said: “We were delighted to play such a key role in this year’s Energy Live conference. We helped businesses gain a better understanding of the sector and the fundamental changes we all face within the UK energy system. In return they helped us gain a better understanding of how we can better meet their needs. We’re proud of our commitment to customers, putting their current and future needs at the heart of everything we do.”
SSE also focussed on how a positive approach towards sustainability helps business do better by improving long-term performance and growth. We’re in a strong position to help business customers elevate their sustainability agenda, because we too are on that journey. SSE wants to share our experience by supporting our customers in achieving their sustainably ambitions. Watch our video and read more about this holistic approach towards sustainability here.
