Nearly 50 SSE Airtricity employees were among the thousands competing in this year’s record-breaking SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon on October 30.

As well as achieving personal goals, the employees were running to raise vital funding for Make-A-Wish Ireland, with the company donating €1 for every kilometre they completed throughout the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon and Race Series.

A total of 150 SSE Airtricity employees took part in the Race Series and Marathon this year, raising €10,000 for children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses. Employees also organised raffles, bucket collections and other fundraising activities in the lead up to the Marathon, bringing the company’s total donation so far to over €18,000 and counting!

In addition, around 40 SSE Airtricity team members volunteered at the Dublin Marathon Expo and registration event on the weekend of the race. The volunteers gave their time through SSE Airtricity’s Be the Difference programme, which allows every employee a day away from their usual work schedule to help a cause of their choice.

Ronan Brady, Head of Marketing at SSE Airtricity, said: “The SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon is always an inspiring event, and we were particularly proud this year to have a record number of entrants, and so many international runners taking part. We can also be extremely proud of our colleagues who took part in the Marathon, and throughout the rest of the SSE Airtricity Dublin Race Series, for going the extra mile to raise money for our charity partners, Make-A-Wish Ireland. Our thanks go to the race organisers, the runners, the spectators and all of our SSE Airtricity colleagues who gave up their time to help out in the run up to the events, and on the race days themselves.”
