Communities in and around Chiddingfold are set to benefit from a £130,000 investment from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.

Work is being carried out all of this week and features an extensive tree-cutting programme and the installation of new equipment along 8.5km of overhead lines, all of which will improve the resilience of the local network and minimise the risk of power cuts.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks’ Head of Customer Operations, Chris Slingsby said: "We are committed to doing everything we can to keep the lights on for our customers, and prevent power cuts. With this project we’ll be ensuring the lines which bring electricity to the communities around Chiddingfold are kept free from trees which, during storms and extreme weather, can sometimes blow into our lines and cause the power to go off. We will also be installing new protection equipment and carrying out maintenance on our network at the same time."
