Southern Electric Power Distribution (SEPD) has reinstated the much-loved cobbles on North Street, Midhurst following repairs to an underground cable.
After carrying out repairs to the cable earlier in the year and putting down tarmac as a temporary surface, SEPD has now revisited the site, dug up the tarmac and reinstated a mixture of the previous and new cobbles by hand. All of the work was done without the need to turn off the power.
SEPD’s Customer and Community Advisor, Jasmin Myhill, visited North Street as the work was starting and met with some of the local businesses close to the area: “When we’re working in the community we always try to be as discrete as possible and go about our business with the minimum amount of disruption. We realise the cobbles have been missed by some of the local residents in Midhurst so we’re delighted to be replacing them after we have completed our essential work on the underground cable.”
