What makes a good corporation and what is its role in modern society? That’s the question SSE’s Chief Executive Alistair Phillips-Davies and other leading business figures will be discussing at debate in Edinburgh tonight.

The event, which will be broadcast live on Periscope and twitter, will see Alistair joined by Merryn Somerset Webb, Editor-in-Chief of Moneyweek magazine and Colin Temple, Managing Director of schuh alongside other members of the Scottish business and financial community.

It is the second in a series of debates which look at how companies do the right thing by society and as well as their customers and shareholders.  Alistair, Merryn and Colin will look at how large firms can help play a part in tackling some of society’s greatest challenges and why it makes good business sense to do it.

You can join the debate live on Periscope from 7pm.  To tune in, simply follow us on Periscope (@SSEPlc) or Twitter (@SSE) on your tablet or smartphone and keep an eye out for updates from around 7pm onwards.

This morning SSE also launched it’s Changing Lives, Growing Value report which outlined the business case for investing in young people written off from the jobs market.
