SSE Next Generation athletes, their parents and coaches often take part in workshops on everything from nutrition, sports psychology, dealing with the media and much more.

During one of the events at The Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow we talked with Ruth Downie, Joseph Nally’s mother about all SSE has done for Joseph.

Fellow SSE Next Generation cyclist Amber King also took part in the day at the velodrome and we caught up with her father Jim to find out what the Next Gen programme means to them.

During an event at SSE’s base in Belfast, Kim Watson mother of windsurfers Islay and Erin Watson joined Aaron Steele father of T-47 sprinter Namphon Steele to discuss what the life of a Next Gen star is like.

SSE's Next Generation programme partners with SportsAid to provide financial support and training to sports stars of the future.
