Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution (SSEPD) is working with communities in the north of Scotland to help them plan for emergencies, including potential disruption to power supplies during winter storms.

Working closely with local authorities and other partner agencies, SSEPD has been holding roadshows and workshops to help local people identify the main risks to their community and how they can respond locally to help keep everyone safe and informed.

So far this summer, 32 community councils and local groups have taken part drawn from across Caithness, Sutherland, Ross-shire and Inverness-shire. Next month, SSEPD’s team will be on the road to Skye with events taking place in Dunvegan, Portree and Broadford.

Watch our short video to find out about the workshops, which help participants draw up the outline of a local Community Emergency Plan.
