The SSE SWALEC is currently the focus of the sporting world as England look to cement their advantage in the first Test of the Investec Ashes in Cardiff against Australia.
Despite being the clear underdogs England have made a strong start to their Ashes campaign as they look to wrest the famous urn back from the Aussies in cricket’s oldest rivalry. No less importantly, the sun has shone at the SSE SWALEC which has been filled to the brim for the first few days, with millions more watching on television around the globe.
SSE and partner Glamorgan recently unveiled an exciting new logo and name for Wales’s best known cricket ground as the SWALEC Stadium became The SSE SWALEC.
The new logo reflects the shape of the stadium and reflects SSE’s other sponsored venues – The SSE Arena, Wembley (formerly Wembley Arena) and The SSE Hydro in Glasgow – but still maintains the association with SWALEC known to cricket fans across Wales.
Sarah Niblock, SSE Sponsorship Manager, said: “Everyone is very pleased with how it’s gone so far at The SSE SWALEC for the first Ashes Test. We appreciate that the new name will take a while to bed down but when you think of the thousands of supporters at the match and the millions of sports fans watching on television, it’s very exciting exposure for the brand. We’ve also been able to host some of our customers at the match itself and give them a day at the cricket they will never forget. So far the sun has shone in Cardiff, the cricket’s been exciting and we hope both will continue over the weekend.”
