The prime season for golf is well and truly underway and we are playing our part in getting it off to a flying start. The last two weekends saw the SSE Scottish Hydro Scramble Regional Finals take place at Forrester Park in Fife, Eastwood in East Renfrewshire, Pitlochry in Perthshire and New Battle in East Lothian.
The victorious four teams secured their places in the SSE Scottish Hydro Challenge Pro-am at Spey Valley on Wednesday 24 June, an event which has seen the likes of Edoardo Molinari, Matteo Manassero and Richie Ramsay compete.

Ross Johnstone, who is part of the winning Forrester Park team, said: “In the wind, I think our local knowledge helped, as well as putting well. We play together a lot and we tend to complement each other, especially as Paul plays off two. I played in the SSE Scottish Hydro Scramble last year and it’s a fun event and I’ve played Spey Valley before and it’s a nice course, so we’re all looking forward to it.”
“The scramble competition is a great event and thanks must go to the SGU and the sponsors SSE Scottish Hydro, for giving club golfers the opportunity to play a good course, in a great format, for free. We had a great day and are delighted we managed to put a round together to win the fantastic prize of playing in the SSE Scottish Hydro Challenge Pro-am at Spey Valley.”
These events reflect SSE Scottish Hydro’s support across all aspects of Scottish golf, from the grassroots club level, to Team SSE Scottish Hydro, which financially supports several Scottish golfers across the season, to the professional tournaments.
