TV hit Still Game has moved from the small screen to the stage as it enjoys a record-breaking run at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow and SSE had a surprise in store for fans of the show.
The information desk, SSE lounges and SSE executive box have all been converted to landmarks from the hit TV show.
For the duration of its run upgrade tickets are no longer collected from the SSE information desk, rather customers “visit” Navid’s shop, Harrid’s. The SSE suite has been transformed into an exact replica of Jack’s flat in Osprey Heights and at either end of the concourse, SSE’s Wind and Water lounges have also been converted into exact replicas of Craiglang’s local, The Clansman. The usual gleaming chrome has been replaced with pub-style wallpaper, pictures and stools.
SSE Energisers are also on hand, offering help and directions and giving out free “Lucky Donkeys” scratch cards, with prizes including entry to the SSE lounges, usually only available to selected SSE Reward members.
Energiser Nikki Skinner says: “I think it’s a great idea and I’ve never seen The SSE Hydro look like this before, it’s amazing. I can’t get my head around the transformation and it’s brilliant to be able to give people a free upgrade as a surprise. It’s all part of giving them a really memorable experience each night.”
One lucky winner is Paul Larkin from Edinburgh, who was soon seated in a corner of The Clansman — formerly the Water lounge — soaking up the atmosphere with son James, 13.
“This is fantastic, it really gets you in the mood. We’re both massive Still Game fans so this brings back the memories straight away. It’s brilliant to win — especially as this is our first time here.”
SSE is the title sponsor of the 13,000 capacity auditorium, which enables SSE to offer customers advanced access to tickets as well as the chance to upgrade into exclusive customer lounges at the venue.
