SSE’s domestic heat network customers to benefit from price freeze extension
29 Oct 2014SSE has today announced it is extending its price freeze to all its domestic heat network customers.
Domestic heat network customers stay in homes which use heat created in a localised energy centre, transported to the homes through a network of highly insulated heating pipes. This takes away the need for each home to have an individual boiler making it an affordable and energy-efficient way of heating homes and providing instantaneous hot water.
Jody Pittaway, SSE’s Heat Networks Manager, said:
“Delivering affordable energy prices for our customers is central to everything we do. In March this year we announced the longest unconditional price guarantee the domestic energy market has ever seen and it is right that our domestic heat network customers also benefit from this price freeze.
“With around 4,000 heat network customers in the UK this extension provides peace of mind that their energy bills won’t increase until 2016 at the earliest.”
SSE’s domestic heat network customers are located across seven sites in the UK. Royal Arsenal Riverside (Woolwich), Wandsworth Riverside Quarter (Wandsworth), Orchard Village (Dagenham), Haggerston and Kingsland (Hackney), Merchant Square (Paddington), Greenwich Square (Greenwich) and Wyndford (Glasgow).
