SSE Next Generation Athletes shortlisted for ‘One – to – Watch’ awards

Alison Patrick SSEFor WebTwo SSE Next Generation Athletes – recent Commonwealth Games Silver medallist, Thomas Hamer and Para triathlon World Champion, Alison Patrick - have been shortlisted for the prestigious SportsAid ‘One – to Watch’ award.

The ‘One – to – Watch’ award honours one young sportsman or sports woman who has demonstrated incredible commitment and world class sporting performances, and therefore are the ‘One to Watch’ for the future of British Sport.

The shortlist was drawn up by judges from Sport England, UK Sport, The English Institute of Sport, BBC Sport and SportsAid, chaired by Olympian Sarah Winckless – from 1,300 young sports people from across the UK, who have received financial support from SportsAid – including Alison and Thomas. Both Next Generation athletes are among eight young sport stars in the running to win this reputable award.

Alison and Thomas will find out if they have been successful at the annual Sports Ball, held on 27 November 2014 in London. Previous winners include the likes of diving phenomenon Tom Daley and previous SSE Home Nation Ambassador, Sally Brown.
