
Mid Scotland and Fife MSP, Murdo Fraser, visited SSE’s Head Office in Perth today to find out how its supporting customers this winter.
Mr Fraser is the Scottish Conservatives Spokesperson for Energy and is also the convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee.
During his visit Mr Fraser met employees from SSE’s retail division to find out more about the support and advice they provide customers to help with their energy bills.
He also toured SSEPD’s Network Management Centre to talk with networks staff to discover how we operate the electricity network in the north of Scotland, as well as discovering some of the preparations we have made to look after vulnerable customers and communities in the event of power cuts and storm outages.
Greg Clarke, SSE’s Public Affairs Manager for Scotland, accompanied Mr Fraser during the visit and said: “We were delighted Murdo took the time out of his busy schedule to visit our customer service centre and networks control room. It gave us the opportunity to explain some of the work we are doing to ensure we provide all our customers, retail and networks, with the support and advice they need this coming winter”.
Murdo Fraser MSP said: “When the power goes out it is often the elderly and vulnerable who are most at risk therefore it was good to see what support SSE are offering these customers.
“SSE is one of Perthshire’s biggest employers and make a real contribution to the local economy and today was a good opportunity to meet their employees and learn more about their business.”
