Employees from Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm Ltd turned into budding footballers at the weekend when a charity football match was held in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance at Lowestoft Town Football Club.
The theme of the match, which was organised by the East of England Energy Group, was "Renewables vs Oil, Gas and Nuclear" with representatives from a variety of energy related companies choosing their side and playing for a good cause.
Renewables were eventually victorious winning 12 goals to six and were awarded a trophy, kindly donated by Warren Services, for their success by Patron of Lowestoft Town Football Club, Bob Blizzard.
Captain of the Renewables team, Dan McKinley, an Offshore Technician with SSE stated:
"It was an exciting match, and as captain of the Renewables team, I am pleased that we eventually took the title. The day was a lot of fun and it was great that we were able to raise funds for a local charity that provides so much support to the Lowestoft area."
