SSE employee satisfaction survey results in £10K boost for cancer charity

Cancer charity Maggie's received a £10,000 boost from SSE thanks to its employees making their voices heard.
Every year, SSE encourages staff to take part in the Great Place to Work Survey - a poll that enables all of its 19,000 employees based in Great Britain and Ireland to share their views and opinions to help the company make changes and improvements to benefit staff and customers.
SSE promised to donate £10,000 to Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres if more than 80 percent of SSE employees completed the survey this year.
Over 17,000 SSE employees took part - 92 percent of the workforce.
SSE Chief Executive, Alistair Phillips-Davies, who presented the cheque to Maggie’s said: “The views of our employees are important to ensure SSE is and continues to be a Great Place to Work.
“I’m pleased that over 17,000 colleagues located right across the country chose to take part. Their input will not only help us to continue to make changes and improvements but has also provided a financial boost to an important charity that helps many people affected by cancer.”
Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need. There are now 17 Centres at major NHS cancer hospitals in the UK, online and abroad.
