The SSE Hydro has become the latest recipient of a five-star award from VisitScotland - boosting Glasgow’s status as a world-class destination.
The venue, which is one of the city’s Commonwealth Games hosts, has been awarded a coveted five star grading - the top accolade a venue can receive from the national tourism organisation’s Quality Assurance Scheme.
This recognition is further confirmation of the increasing quality of infrastructure in Glasgow with the Commonwealth Games now underway.
The five-star grading means The SSE Hydro has officially been graded as “outstanding”, having been assessed on everything from its décor and cleanliness to the attitude of the staff.
SSE is the title sponsor of the 13,000 capacity auditorium located in Glasgow, which enables SSE to offer customers advanced access to tickets as well as the chance to upgrade into exclusive customer lounges at the venue.
Wendy Barbour, Director of Commonwealth Games and Sponsorship, said: “This is another milestone for The SSE Hydro in what is a very special week for Glasgow.
“We’re delighted to be able to offer our customers benefits via ssereward.com to energise entertainment and help them enjoy memorable experiences there as part of our sponsorship agreement.”
Councillor Gordon Matheson, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “The city’s investment in the award-winning SSE Hydro, which this month ranked in the top three most popular music venues in the world by industry publication Pollstar, will ensure that major events and conferences remain at the heart of the city’s economy.”
