Intrepid SSE staff took on the Caledonian Hike challenge to raise funds for Foundation Scotland.

A team of 12 employees from SSE’s Cumbernauld and Perth offices walked 24 miles, from Fort William to Glencoe, all in the name of charity.

The hikers completed the walk in less than 11 hours and helped raised an impressive £335,000 for the foundation which supports local communities across Scotland, funding community led projects.

The team made it into Foundation Scotland’s top twenty fundraisers, banking more than £4,000 worth of donations.

Lynda Harrison, a Quality Manager at SSE based in Cumbernauld said the walk was one of the most challenging things she’s ever done.

She said:  “We are delighted we not only managed to raise such a large amount of money but we also completed the challenge in less than 11 hours.

“Despite the blisters it hasn’t put us off and have all signed up for the 54 mile challenge next year.”
