One lucky employee from SSE’s Belfast office was part of the Queen’s Baton Relay celebrations in Glasgow on Monday, as the build up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games continues.

SSE’s, Josh Bradley from Belfast carried the baton as it made its way through Glasgow City Centre en route to Celtic Park for the start of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The opening ceremony for the Glasgow 2014 games will take place on Wednesday evening, following the arrival of the Queens Baton, which will have visited over 70 nations, travelling more than 190,000km over a period of 288 days.

On carrying the baton, Josh commented; “It’s a once in a life time opportunity and a real privilege to not only be involved in the Glasgow 2014 Games, but to carry the Queens Baton through the streets of Glasgow is an experience that I will never forget.”

“The excitement around the city and the venues is really building and come Wednesday the place will be alive with positive energy. I’m looking forward to watching some of the Team NI athletes over the next two weeks, including SSE ambassador Michael Conlan, who I think has a really good chance of taking home gold.”
