Perth resident Davey Wurr (54) has lived in his home in North Muirton for 20 years.
His three-bed semi-detached home is one of the 389 properties to have received free external wall insulation from the Scottish Government, Perth & Kinross Council and SSE.
Davey explained how be became involved in the scheme and the benefits it has brought.
He said: “I received a letter about the project and went along to an open evening to hear more about it. The Council and SSE explained the scheme in great detail, what would be involved, the kind of material used, the length of time it would take and answered any concerns residents had.
“It sounded like a great scheme and as it was at no cost to me, I decided to go ahead.
“I was surprised I didn’t need to move out of my house during the installation. I was able to continue living at home and come and go as I pleased. The team working on site made sure I was made aware of everything that was going on and the scaffolding didn’t restrict access. It also didn’t take long to install, I think it only took around two weeks.
“Although the work was only completed in April, I can definitely feel the difference already and the new-look exterior is even better than I thought it would be. Despite it being summer, I still don’t need to put the heating on as much as before and I’m already saving on my heating. No doubt it will be even more effective come winter.
“I’m really pleased with the project and the improvements it has made to my property and the overall area.”
