World-champion cyclist Becky James is on the home straight of her Commonwealth Games training regime.
The SSE Ambassador was confirmed as part of the Team Wales squad in June and will go for glory in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
Disciplined Becky revealed her nutrition secrets and sacrifices to SSE’s More For You lifestyle site.
The 22-year-old, who is tipped for gold in Glasgow, admitted her biggest indulgence is chocolate but she’s giving it up for the Games.
The sprint and keirin champion said: “If I’m in training or know I’ve got to lose weight, I’ve got to be really strict with myself. It is tough but I love what I do, so I’ve just got to get on with it.
“Having a healthy, balanced diet is really important for anyone in training. It’s all about making the right choices.
“I’m a huge chocoholic and I love cakes as well. When it’s chill time in the evening, though, I do get major cravings.
“To be good I’ll just make up a bowl of Greek yoghurt with fresh cherries. Normally I’ll have non-fat yoghurt with more fresh fruit mixed in to make sure I’m not tempted. I just can’t help myself.”
SSE is a proud sponsor of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Becky is part of a team of ambassadors, led by six time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy. They’re flying the flag for their country and sport.
Becky and SSE are urging fans to get behind their nation ahead of the Games and tweet their support using #GoWales, #GoEngland, #GoScotland or #GoNI.
The Home Nation with the most tweets will receive additional SSE Next Generation funding to help more young sports stars come through the ranks.
