Today Ofgem announced a further delay in its decision on Project TransmiT.

In response Paul Smith, Managing Director Generation at SSE said: "We have long campaigned for a fairer transmission charging regime and believe the proposed changes put forward to Ofgem offer a radical shake up of the current electricity transmission system that would benefit all parties including the renewables sector.

“The implementation date has moved back a number of times. It was originally envisaged that it would be in place in April 2012. More recently the date has gone back from April 2014 to April 2015.

“The further delay to April 2016 announced today will have the unintended consequence of prolonging the uncertainty generators face.

“Project TransmiT has been on the agenda since 2010 and we hope that Ofgem will look to deliver a clear and decisive move forward on this, sooner rather than later.

“Whilst we are clearly disappointed that today’s announcement means more waiting, it is reassuring that Ofgem has confirmed it has not changed its minded-to position."
