Alex Goode took on England team-mate Billy Twelvetrees in a fast paced ‘street rugby’ game to launch SSE’s latest reward where clubs can win a £10,000 floodlight.

SSE is giving English rugby clubs the opportunity to win a portable floodlight that will enable their players to train throughout the winter evenings.

The Rhino VB9 Eco Tower floodlight will not only help players train over the winter, but thanks to its energy efficiency could also help clubs cut energy costs.

England stars Goode and Twelvetrees are used to tackling the world’s best players on the rugby field. But this time they led out teams of amateur players to help launch SSE’s floodlight reward competition.

Alex Goode, England and Saracens full-back, said: “It’s great that SSE is making a difference in community rugby. The floodlight is absolutely brilliant and shows that you can play rugby anywhere!”

Billy Twelvetrees, England and Gloucester centre, added: “The floodlights are a brilliant prize for any committed rugby team wanting to keep training over winter. Only disappointment of the night is that my team lost!”

Jonny Petrie, Head of Sponsorship Strategy at SSE, said: “Here at SSE, we help support clubs across the country by offering rewards that can help them in the long-term.  We hope that the floodlight we help keep a club training over the winter months when they otherwise might have missed out.”
