Small Business Saturday is a new Government initiative designed to celebrate the huge contribution small businesses make to the UK economy.
It takes place on December 7th. According to the Federation of Small Businesses, nearly half of the UK workforce is employed in a small business and over a third of total turnover emanates from a small business.
As Kevin Greenhorn, Director of Business Supply & Contracting, sets out in this video, SSE has long recognised the value of small businesses to the UK.
Kevin Greenhorn explains: “We feel privileged to be supplying our business customers with the energy they need to keep their office lights on and their staff’s computers running.
“Busy people should be devoting their time to making their companies successful, that’s why we’ve taken steps to take the hassle out of energy for small businesses every day, not just on Small Business Saturday.”
In addition SSE is introducing a range of measures designed to make life easier for our small business customers, and these include:
- From April 2014, we will be one of the first suppliers to end automatic contract rollovers for small business customers. We’re taking away the worry that comes with having to switch energy supplier before a certain date.
- We’re also extending our commitment on back-billing from micro-businesses to all small businesses. As part of this, we promise to accept full responsibility when a customer has been under-billed due to a genuine billing error and we won’t issue a back-bill to them for a period greater than 12 months.
