Employees from Airtricity Gas NI, Northern Ireland’s leading gas supplier, embraced the festive spirit this month by raising vital funds and awareness for the Children’s Hospice.

Eight staff members ditched their usual nine-to-fives and got busy bag packing at the Abbey Centre in Newtownabbey. Through Airtricity’s Community at Heart scheme, employees from all sections of the business get the chance to take a day away from their usual schedule and work with a non-profit organisation or community group of their choosing.

The Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is the only service of its kind, offering quality care and support to life-limited children and young people. There are over 600 families living in Northern Ireland relying on the specialist care that only the hospice can provide.

Aiden McGinn from Airtricity Gas NI said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to give something back, especially at this time of year. I think the spirit of giving is in the air and everyone on the team is really embracing it. The Children’s Hospice is such a worthy cause, and it’s vital to keep raising money and awareness. Airtricity gives staff plenty of opportunities to help out during the year, and it’s brilliant to see how many people are happy to lend a hand.”

Airtricity’s Northern Ireland offices have been particularly enthusiastic about donating their time, with 100% of staff using their Community at Heart day during the last financial year. In the past, employees have used the scheme to volunteer for groups such as Barnardo’s, the Daisies Café and Habitat for Humanity.
