The Kintyre-Hunterston Subsea Project will see an investment of over £200m in our Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission network. It is due for completion by the end of 2015.
The new high voltage electricity transmission will connect the Kintyre Peninsula in Argyll to the existing mainland transmission network at Hunterston in North Ayrshire.
The project will help improve the security of supply to the Kintyre peninsula as well as giving renewables developers the opportunity to connect to the grid.
In these short videos: Kintyre-Hunterston's Project Director, Andrew Malkin, offers an overview of the project; whilst SSE's Director of Transmission, Dave Gardner, looks at its significance for the area.
