Over 100 locals have attended a series of exhibitions about plans for a second Ferrybridge Multifuel facility at Ferrybridge “C” power station in West Yorkshire.

Multifuel Energy Ltd, a joint venture between SSE and Wheelabrator Technologies Inc., was delighted with the turnout at seven events held in Ferrybridge, Brotherton, Airedale, Pontefract and Monks Fryston.

The exhibitions gave the local residents a chance to see how the plans have progressed and also gave the project team another chance to listen to the views of the local community and answer any questions.

Ashley Comerford, the FM2 Project Manager said: “We are pleased that local residents have taken the time to come and speak with us, to find out more about how our plans for a second multifuel plant are developing and the results of our preliminary environmental investigations.

“The involvement of the local community is greatly appreciated and we value this input into our plans. A wide range of views have already been expressed through our feedback forms and I would encourage anyone with an opinion or question on the plans to get in touch, before the consultation closes on 20 December 2013.”

The proposed FM2 facility is expected to be similar in scale to the multifuel station current being built, which has already created around 300 construction jobs and has awarded supplier contracts to around 30 local companies.

Further information, including a copy of the consultation materials, is available on the project website or by contacting the project team on e-mail: fm2@multifuelenergy.com or calling 01977 884314.
