The dedication of our staff often goes unnoticed in the wider energy debate but for me it is important to recognise. Our customers are not just numbers to us, they’re people with busy lives, with issues and worries and we want them to know we are here to help.
That’s why we were delighted Consumer Futures’ most recent study ranked us the best performing of the major energy suppliers for customer complaints with just 38 per 100,000 customers. The worst performing supplier attracted over five times the volume of customer complaints compared with SSE. Even so, we are not complacent and are determined to reduce this – that’s why we’ve invested in a skilled workforce.
This year we signed up to a Living Wage for all staff – making us the biggest accredited Living Wage employer in the country and just one of three in the FTSE 100. It demonstrates that we value the people that work for us highly and we want to pay them at a level which shows them we mean it.
It also shows we are a company which is serious about doing the right thing. We believe it’s a matter of basic fairness and we want to reward our staff for doing an excellent job.
