Scottish Hydro, part of energy company SSE, is embarking on a tour of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland this October to bring energy efficiency advice to residents in some of the most remote parts of the country.

The tour will take place between 15 and 18 October and will see Scottish Hydro energy efficiency experts visit the length and breadth of northern Scotland, from rural Perthshire and the Highlands to the Western Isles and Orkney.

The tour is aimed at everyone, regardless of their energy supplier, and is designed to offer practical advice to help consumers with their energy costs.

The advice on offer will include referrals for financial rebates such as the Government’s Warm Home Discount scheme; tailor-made energy efficiency advice and details on grants available through the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) that can help households pay for home insulation, boiler repairs and boiler replacements.

There will also be lots of general help and advice on billing and tariffs, including flexible repayment plans for Scottish Hydro customers.

Scottish Hydro’s External Energy Efficiency Manager, John Heron, said: “This tour is designed to give everyone, not just Scottish Hydro customers, advice regarding their energy and how they can best prepare ahead of the winter.

“Many people are unaware of the help that’s available to them or the benefits they are entitled to, and that’s why we’re taking this opportunity to hit the road and meet with people in their local community.

"Whether it’s simple energy saving tips, helping people better understand their bill or details on the financial assistance available via government schemes, our experts will be on hand to help.”
