Taking over four years to complete and representing an investment of over 250 million pounds, the development of SSE’s Griffin wind farm near Aberfeldy was no small undertaking.

In completing the 68-turbine project, now one of the top ten largest wind farms in Europe, the construction team laboured through changing seasons and engineering challenges, even creating a new road, before the wind farm was officially commissioned in early 2012.

The story of Griffin is not just about steel and concrete. In this film, we capture how the wind farm has made its mark in the community through investment in local projects, now totalling over £1 million, and in community open days, where local people could get up close and personal to this major feat of engineering.

Griffin’s story proves it’s not just an asset for the nation, but also for the local community.
