SSE employees from our London office were delighted to be involved once again with the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) award-winning fundraising campaign this month – the “LOVE installations”, which this time was visiting the Westfield at Stratford City.
Back in February, the BHF launched the campaign in Covent Garden and Camden Lock - for a small donation, Londoners could write a message to a loved one onto a silver heart and lock it to one of the two metre-high galvanised steel letters spelling out the word ‘LOVE’.
The campaign, which SSE colleagues were involved with, raised over £31,000 for National Heart Month after more than 10,000 people felt the love and bought a padlock to attach to the installation. Since then it has toured the UK including Brighton and T in the Park up in Edinburgh as well as winning the Institute of Fundraising award for Most Innovative Fundraising Campaign.
Chris Harris, a Communications Manager at SSE, said: “When the BHF got in touch to say that they were returning to London with their LOVE installation, we were ecstatic to have the opportunity to be involved again. The people we met loved the concept and were very generous in parting with their cash for such a worthy cause.”
The LOVE installation was at the Westfield (Stratford City) until Sunday 18 August. Further details of future locations are available on the BHF's official website.
