Children at Pitcairn Primary School in Perth received a surprise on their return to school after the summer break when they were presented with a brand new TV from Scottish Hydro.
The TV was donated by 580 big-hearted customer service staff after they came top in an employee competition.
Customer Service teams across Scotland, England and Wales took part in the competition which measured staff participation in the company’s employee volunteering programme - Community at Heart – which enables employees to take a day away from their normal work duties to help out in their local community.
The Perth customer service team had the highest participation score over the past year and were given a prize of a 55inch 3D TV to donate to a worthwhile cause in their local community.
Aaron Glen from Customer Services in Perth said: “The team here were absolutely delighted to win the prize. We held a vote to decide what group would receive it out of the many we’ve helped over the past year and Pitcairn Primary School was the top choice.
“We hope that the TV will provide a useful resource for the school in bringing their classroom lessons to life.”
Since the Community at Heart scheme launched in 2009, SSE, which includes the Scottish Hydro brand, has helped over 1500 community groups and charities across Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Activities include everything from dog walking, tree cutting, litter picking, bulb planting to number crunching and book stacking.
