Employees from Southern Electric  - part of SSE- had a howl helping out at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust as part of the company’s employee volunteering scheme.

Nineteen employees from the company’s Basingstoke office rolled up their sleeves to build a new bridge and pond as well as paint fences and picnic benches to help improve the charity’s facilities for both wolves and visitors alike.

The UK Wolf Conservation Trust is popular with Southern Electric staff with 62 employees dedicating time to the charity over the past two years through the company’s Community at Heart scheme - which lets every staff member get a day away from their normal work duties to help out in their local community.

Southern Electric employee Trudi Bevan, who organised two visits this year, said: "Last year a team from the company did great work with this charity creating new falconry pens which formed part of a brand new visitor attraction. The enjoyment they received from the day inspired me to get some colleagues together and organise further help this year.

"Although the days involved hard work, everyone really enjoyed their time immensely. The positive impact the changes will make to the residents of the park and visitors made our time there even more rewarding."

Tara Armstrong, UK Wolf Conservation Trust added: "The teams were brilliant and the help was much appreciated.

"Through Southern Electric's help we have been able to finish a lot of projects that were necessary for the Wolf Trust and the assistance with enclosure's pond and the bridge will help give the Ambassador wolves a far more interesting and enriched enclosure.

"We’d also like to thank Southern Electric for their help with a lot of the maintenance work around the site, such as painting and grass strimming which goes a long way to help keep the Trust looking in tip-top shape".
