SSE is supporting cancer charity Maggie’s by hosting a company-wide food-tastic fundraising event.

SSE’s 'Serving It Up for Maggie’s' campaign involves employees hosting a food-event in their own time and in their own home between 31st May and 15th June where all proceeds raised will go to the charity.

SSE will be donating £25 to every food-event organised by an employee as part of the campaign, which will go to the host’s fundraising ‘pot’ for Maggie’s.

SSE Chief Executive, Ian Marchant, explains why the company has decided to lend its support to the charity: "SSE has been involved with Maggie’s for ten years; we are a former sponsor of its annual Monster Bike and Hike with many of our employees taking part in the event too over the years. We’ve also helped the charity on numerous occasions through our employee volunteering scheme Community at Heart.

"I’m sure our 'Serving It Up for Maggie’s campaign' will see our staff offering their support once again and hosting great breakfast, lunch and dinner parties to help raise funds for such an important cause."

Sophie Smedley, Corporate Relationship Manager at Maggie’s, added: "We are delighted that SSE is supporting us with this unique fundraising event. Campaigns like this are so important to us, not just to raise funds but also to raise awareness of our work.

"SSE has shown fantastic support in the past doing everything from our Monster Bike and Hike event to participating in golf days and cake baking. I’m sure this event will be equally as popular and successful."

Maggie’s Centres provide free practical, emotional and psychological support for anyone with cancer and are located at sites right across the country, including Dundee, Glasgow, Newcastle, Oxford, West London and South West Wales.
