In July 2009 Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Limited (SHETL) submitted planning applications for the converter stations associated with the proposed subsea transmission link between the Shetland Isles and mainland Scotland.
We are developing proposals to upgrade and reinforce the existing electricity transmission network which will help support the forecast growth in renewable energy generation in the north of Scotland and the northern isles.
Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission owns and maintains the 132kV and 275kV electricity transmission network in the north of Scotland, in some of the UK's most challenging terrain.
