Hunterston offshore wind turbine test facility

The proposal to develop Scotland’s first offshore wind turbine testing facility at Clydeport’s Hunterston site in North Ayrshire was consented in February 2012. The facility will be Scotland’s first offshore turbine wind test site and will be an extension of SSE’s Glasgow-based Centre of Excellence for Renewable Energy (CEERE). Construction commenced in March 2013 and the appointed Principal Contractor, RJ McLeod, is making good progress on site.

There will be a need for 6 major concrete pours on site. The date for the first pour has now been confirmed for Thursday, 20 June 2013. Please note that when these pours are underway there will be a significantly higher volume of construction traffic along the A78 (south) entering and departing from the site.

Offshore wind
