SSE acquired Dunmaglass wind farm from RES in May 2013 and the enabling works began on site August 2013. These are expected to be complete by summer 2014 and the main construction works will follow on. The wind farm is located approximately 25km south of Inverness on Dunmaglass Estate and will include 33 x 3MW turbines up to 120m to blade tip.
Project Liaison Manager, Marianne Townsley, gives an update on how the other works on site are progressing along with information on alternative routes for anyone who would like to use the nearby hills to walk or cycle.
Wind turbines produce electricity by using the natural power of the wind to drive a generator.
We know our investments in generation benefit from the co-operation of the local community. Thats why we establish long-term funds to support local community projects.
