Utility Solutions
SSE's Utility Solutions business designs, builds, owns, operates and maintains cable and pipe networks delivering electricity, gas, water, heat and telecommunications to existing, and new commercial and residential developments in England, Wales and Scotland. Our services include:
- Electricity networks: we develop, own and operate embedded electricity networks outside the areas served by our economically-regulated electricity distribution companies, Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution and Southern Electric Power Distribution.
- Gas pipelines: we are also a licensed gas transporter, installing, owning and operating gas mains and services on new housing and commercial developments throughout the UK. Find out more about gas pipelines.
- Water: we were the first new company to offer both water and sewerage services since privatisation in England and Wales in 1989, and we can install, own, operate and supply water and sewerage services alongside our existing electricity and gas services. Find out more about water.
- Heat: we use a range of sustainable technical solutions, including Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generation, biomass boilers and ground- and air-source heat pumps and combine these with community heating schemes where appropriate. Find out more about heat.
