On 28 May 2010 Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Limited (SHETL), a subsidiary of SSE (Scottish and Southern Energy), published a consultation document on the possible reinforcement of the existing electricity transmission infrastructure between Beauly (west of Inverness) and Mossford (by Loch Luichart) extending through parts of Strathconon and Strath Bran. This reinforcement is required to accommodate output from renewable energy generation in Strathconon and Strath Bran.
Public Exhibitions were held at the end of June in Garve, Marybank and Beauly to consult with local communities on the proposals. The deadline for comments on the consultation document was Friday 30 July 2010.
After assessing all of the responses received during the consultation process, SHETL will publish an indicative proposed route for the reinforced Beauly to Mossford transmission line, and will also submit a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to the Highland Council for the siting of the new substation in the Mossford area.
