Galloper wind farm
SSE and RWE npower renewables have secured rights from The Crown Estate to develop a new wind farm off the coast of Suffolk. The proposed wind farm has a capacity of around 500MW and is an extension to the companies’ existing Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm (highlighted in the map above in light blue), currently the world’s largest wind farm under construction.
A planning application is expected to be submitted to the Infrastructure Planning Commission this year, with a decision expected in 2012. A grid connection for the project was secured with National Grid in 2009.
