River Isla

The infrastructure required for the proposed scheme is a small intake structure located on the River Isla upstream of Bridge of Craigisla and a generating station located in a relatively secluded area of agricultural land 10km downstream of the intake.

Stakeholder feedback

03 Feb 2012

We have suspended our schedule to submit a planning application in spring for the Glen Isla scheme due to feedback from statutory consultees, the local community and other stakeholders. We are undertaking an extensive review of the project and will take time to more thoroughly evaluate and assess the feedback from stakeholders. This will take some months and we will report back to appropriate stakeholders and community in due course.

Community benefit

We recognise that our investments in new electricity generation benefit from the co-operation of the local community in a variety of ways, particularly during the construction phase. In recognition of this, our policy is to establish long-term funds to support community projects in areas where we are developing generation projects.

  • Project information

Run of river schemes do not require a dam or store any water, instead they use only the instantaneous natural water available in a river so flow patterns downstream of a generating station are unchanged. (More detailed description of a run of river scheme can be found in more information).

The infrastructure required for the proposed scheme is a small intake structure located on the River Isla upstream of Bridge of Craigisla and a generating station (incorporating a sub station) located in a relatively secluded area of agricultural land 10km downstream of the intake.
