Scottish and Southern Energy plc (“SSE”) has confirmed it will proceed with its investment in the 504MW (megawatt) Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm. Construction work will begin shortly and on completion this will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm.

Scottish and Southern Energy plc ('SSE') has acquired a 21% stake in Logan Energy Limited, a newly established subsidiary of Logan Energy (US) Inc., in return for £375,000 and goodwill brought to the new business.

Airtricity, the renewable energy development division of Scottish and Southern Energy plc ('SSE'), has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Gothia Vind which is expected to lead to the development of new wind farms in western Sweden. Based near Gothenburg, Gothia Vind is a specialist wind energy developer.

Scottish and Southern Energy plc (“SSE”) has agreed with the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform to provide additional support for vulnerable electricity and gas customers in the period to March 2011.  The UK government has stated that given the substantial commitment that an agreement of this kind represents, it will not expect companies to do more over the period 2008-11 on social assistance.

Scottish and Southern Energy plc ("SSE") will increase its prices for domestic electricity and gas customers on 1st April 2008. Prices for electricity customers will increase by 14.2% (average) and prices for gas customers will increase by 15.8%. Even after these increases are implemented, SSE’s prices for gas and electricity will remain the lowest in the UK*.
