Scottish and Southern Energy plc (“SSE”) has entered into an agreement to acquire 160km of telecom duct network within London, extending from Heathrow through to the London Docklands. This acquisition follows the recent acquisition of a UK national network from TeliaSonera in October 2007, and will provide SSE’s telecoms subsidiary, Neos Networks, with one of the most extensive wholly-owned telecom duct and fibre footprints in the UK.

Ministers have given consent to Barking Power Ltd, in which Scottish and Southern Energy plc ("SSE") has a 30.4% stake, to construct an extension of its existing Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power station at Dagenham. Scottish and Southern Energy plc ("SSE") has entered into an agreement with SEGRO plc to acquire its shares in Slough Heat and Power Ltd, an integrated energy business, for a total cash consideration of £49.25m. The agreement is subject to a condition precedent, which once satisfied, should result in ownership transferring to SSE by the end of December 2007.
