SSE Renewables was granted exclusivity by the Crown Estate in February 2009 to develop a 690MW offshore wind farm 13km off the west coast of Islay. SSER signed an Agreement for Lease with the Crown Estate in October 2011.
Our application for a met mast on Orsay Island, in the Rhinns of Islay, was recently approved for four operational years at a Hearing in Portnahaven by members of Argyll and Bute Council’s Planning, Protective Services and Licensing Committee. The met mast is likely to be constructed in 2014.
