Energy Bill must deliver an attractive investment climate for UK renewables

A broad coalition of energy companies have written to Edward Davey Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change outlining real concerns about the Government's proposed 'Contracts for Difference' CFD proposal for subsidising new low carbon investments.

Balancing energy businesses

We are the only company listed on the London Stock Exchange that has economically-regulated businesses like networks and market-based businesses like electricity generation and energy supply in the UK.

What we do

Supplying electricity, gas and home services

We supply electricity, gas and other energy services to some 9.5 million customers in the energy markets in Great Britain and Ireland, focusing on strong products, good service and value for money.

Networks

Working to reduce carbon dioxide emissions

We believe the energy industry will be radically re-shaped as carbon dioxide emissions are reduced and fossil fuels become scarcer and our low carbon transition is well under way.

  • Graduates, internships and school leavers

We have designed these training programmes to help you achieve recognised qualifications as you gain the work experience.  We want you to be passionate and committed to building a career with SSE.     What qualifications or experience do I need?

    We are looking for talented graduates and summer interns who have, or are on course for a minimum 2:1 degree in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably at MEng level, however BEng will be considered. Flexibility is a must on our Graduate programme as travelling throughout the UK will be required. For School Leavers , ideally you will have a good standard of secondary education, having achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs or Standard Grades (level A - C, 1 - 3), these must include English, and Maths. In addition, you may have gained some A Levels/Highers, or be working towards these and be able to demonstrate good preliminary results across a range of subjects. For all positions, we are looking for people who are enthusiastic and have the ability to work on their own initiative to solve problems. Not only that but people who have strong communication skills, the ability to prioritise work and show attention to detail.
